Who I am
This is the personal blog of Benjamin Naderi, in the Netherlands. I decide what happens to the data this site collects, which makes me the controller under the GDPR. For anything about your data, email me at [email protected].
What the server sees
Every request to a website carries technical data: an IP address, a browser and a time. Cloudflare hosts this site and processes that data to deliver the pages and keep them secure. I don’t build profiles from it.
The site uses the fonts already on your device, so no font is loaded from another server.
What analytics measures
I use Google Analytics 4 to see which posts are read. It records the page you opened, where you came from, the kind of device you use and your approximate region. Google derives the region from your IP address and doesn’t store the address itself. It never learns your name.
How it counts you depends on your answer in the cookie box.
- If you reject, or haven’t answered, each page view is counted on its own with a random number that is new on every page. Nothing is stored in your browser, so your visits can’t be linked to each other. The basis is my legitimate interest in knowing which posts are read.
- If you accept, Google Analytics also sets two cookies, so your visits count as one reader’s. The basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time under Cookie preferences at the foot of every page, and the cookies are deleted at once.
Google processes this data for me and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Advertising features are switched off. The cookie notice lists everything the site stores in your browser.
If you sign up for new posts
If you sign up for new posts by email, your email address is stored with Brevo, along with whether you confirmed it. Brevo is a French email service (Sendinblue SAS, Paris) that keeps its data in the EU, in France and Belgium, and processes it for me under its data processing agreement. Your address is only used to send you new posts. The signup box is the site’s own, so no Brevo script, cookie or tracking runs on the site.
You confirm by email first, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Brevo counts whether emails are opened and links are clicked. I can make that anonymous but can’t switch it off. To have your address removed, unsubscribe or reply to any of the emails. The basis is your consent.
Who else sees your data
I sell nothing, run no advertising and share nothing for anyone else’s purposes. The only parties that process data for this site are the ones named here.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it, restrict what I do with it, hand it over in a portable form, or stop processing it where I rely on legitimate interest. Email me at [email protected] and I’ll act on it.
If you think I’ve got it wrong, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority where you live.
Changes
When what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top says when.
